Destroy the fetters of gender with us and think queer! How can we value differences without upholding inequalities? In a four-day mini-festival, Studio Я presents artistic approaches to the question: »What does QUEERNESS mean today?« The festival opens with Traumboy, a solo performance by Daniel Hellmann. The audience will experience a man who feels free to prostitute. After this performance Plateau Repas will make the Studio Foyer dance - an obsession for Eurodance, Old-School-Hip-Hop and 90er-Dance Music. Walking:Holding is title of the performative stroll through the streets by Rosana Cade – unexpected encounters and emotions guaranteed. In addition, a rendezvous with the Frutas Afrodisíacas will take place who turn into the »shabby queers« from the 80s in West Berlin. The gay-Jewish Feygele provides some insight into a very personal balancing act between fucking as protest culture and searching for true love. Part-time confessors Tucké Royale and Marianne Dieterle will inhabit a virtual confessional, in which practices, dangers and desires can be discussed anonymously. Director Pedro Kadivar, together with a group of queer refugees, puzzles out the state of being marginalized in multiple ways. And collective PONY CAMP presents Don’t worry Be Yoncé: a tutorial on how to become Beyoncé in ten steps, regardless of gender, shoe size or hair colour.
In addition to the artistic work, three panel discussions titled HETEROSEXUALITÄT_EN will bring academics, activists and journalists together to discuss taboos and practices, visibility and being marginalized in multiple ways. The panel discussions are organized in collaboration with Schwules Museum* Berlin. Here, nothing and no one is excluded. Because it is not a matter of being something somehow. It is a matter of how one argues, disagrees and thinks.
