Maryam Abu Khaled, born in Nazareth in 1991, started in the theatre when she was 15. She completed a training programme at the Freedom Theatre in the Palestinian refugee camp of Jenin. She has performed around Palestine, Europe, and the US. One of her projects is the documentary Art/Violence, inspired by the actor Juliano Mer-Khamis, who was killed in 2011. Together with Udi Aloni and Batoul Taleb she received the CINEMA Fairbindet prize for it at the 2013 Berlinale.
Since the 2016/17 season, Maryam Abu Khaled has been a member of the ensemble at the Gorki, where she works with the directors Ayham Majid Agha, Sebastian Nübling, Christian Weise and Suna Gürler, among others. She appears in plays like PLANET B or THE SITUATION directed by Yael Ronen, which was invited to the 2016 Theatertreffen festival and chosen by Theater heute as 2016’s play of the year. She can also be seen in Sebastian Nübling's remake of ES SAGT MIR NICHTS, DAS SOGENANNTE DRAUSSEN. In the 2025/26 season, she will appear in Oliver Frljić's production of EINE NEBENSACHE, based on the novel by Adania Shibli.
