The first workshop presentation from the Exile Ensemble, supported by Thomas Wodianka
The Gorki's ensemble is growing! We are thrilled to welcome seven new actors from Afghanistan, Palestine and Syria, who will now establish the Exile Ensemble at the Gorki. The ensemble is a two-year project through which its members can resume and further develop their artistic work in the theatre. For the launch ensemble members will presented results from their first artistic encounterson December 22nd, 2016. Based on Alice in Wonderland, our new colleagues, together with Gorki ensemble member Thomas Wodianka, developed scenes about the rules of the house within which they now have to orient themselves.
From January until April, the Exile Ensemble will work with Yael Ronen and others to devise a new production on the mainstage.
After the workshop presentation there was a concert of Damasko Project* and DJ Yavuz Ak in the Foyer.

DAMASKO PROJECT is a music project founded by the Syrian musician Ghays Mansour. The main goal of the project is to play music for love, peace and freedom and for humans and humanity. Each concert has a different musical style with different musicians. And at each concert we fly with the audience in a musical journey through the Middle East, from Damascus to the whole world.
The Exil Ensemble is supported by funding from the German Federal Cultural Foundation, the Lotto Foundation Berlin and the Mercator Foundation.
