Kinan Hmeidan

Kinan Hmeidan was born in Damascus in 1991. He studied acting at the Higher Institute for Dramatic Arts and graduated in 2014. Part of the Open Border Ensemble at the Münchner Kammerspiele since the 2017/2018 season, he can also be seen in the movie Témoins (The Witnesses, 2016). Before that he worked with some independent directors still active in Syria (Oussama Ghanam, Samer Omran, Jihad Sa’eed) and shot TV series and movies. Hmeidan is also interested in performances in alternative spaces and, for example, was part of X Shared Spaces, a project that explores the question of how digital business models permanently change the world. In addition to his acting work, Kinan was also active as a DJ in the Damascene music scene. Since the 2020/21 season he has been a member of the ensemble at the Maxim Gorki Theatre, where he has worked with the directors Sebastian Nübling, Oliver Frljić and Christian Weise among others. He is currently on stage in Bühnenbeschimpfung by Sivan Ben Yishai, directed by Sebastian Nübling, which was named Play of the Year 2023 and nominated for the 48th Mülheimer Theatertage. He can also be seen in Dämonen (Berlin) by Boris Nikitin and Sebastian Nübling.
