An intergenerational encounter between two authors. Saliha Scheinhardt began writing texts during her nightshifts in a textile factory, in which she expressed the thoughts, fears and longings of migrant workers in the late1970s and 1980s. This resulted in a body of work comprising over twelve novels. Then there is Şehnaz Dost, whose first novel ruh was one of the literary discoveries of last year. With an intersectional approach, she masterfully combines the personal and the political. This evening, a pioneer of the first generation of post-migrant literature meets a younger generation. Together they trace the footsteps of those who have no voice and use their literature to shed light on the gaps in German cultural history from the 1980s to the present day.
