For author and resident director of the Gorki, Hakan Savaş Mican, his first play, Der Besuch (The Visit), premiered at the Ballhaus Naunynstraße in 2008, marked the beginning of a journey that would have a decisive influence on post-migrant theater. Over the course of eighteen years, he has created a body of work that is both personal and political. His texts tell of life between origin and social advancement, of the class question as the driving force behind many biographies, as in his city trilogy, the final part of which, Berlin Karl-Marx-Platz, premiered at the Gorki in November 2025. In February, we are dedicating an entire weekend to this trilogy, during which all three parts will be shown – the first two for the last time. In addition, Mican's texts will be published for the first time in two volumes, as a poetic chronicle of the city of Berlin and post-migrant theater from 2008 to 2026. The book premiere will take place on the main stage as part of the trilogy weekend.
The event will be moderated by author Dinçer Güçyeter, whose book Unser Deutschlandmärchen (Our German Fairy Tale) was staged by Hakan Savaş Mican at the Gorki in 2025. Two artists with working-class backgrounds will discuss the central theme of Mican's writing, »origin and class«. Actors who have shaped the author's work will read passages from the collection of plays, and Daniel Kahn and his band will provide musical accompaniment for the evening.
