All they really want to do is perform. Two actors, the last remnants of a touring troupe, take their play from theatre to theatre. They tell the story of a family that has withdrawn into their home, intimidated by an outside world that turned into a threat. They themselves come dangerously close to the brink in the process, first losing half of their set and then slowly their connection to reality.
Their coffers are empty, there’s no funds for experiments, no space for rehearsal and most of all no room for mistakes: their performance turns into a fight for survival. They fight for the courage to be honest, they fight for each other. With a minimal budget and maximum pressure, they try to carry on with their play – amidst a system that turns art into a commodity.
Simultaneously witty and painful, this play tells of the desire for cohesion in times of crisis – and of siblings who work off and support each other and sometimes don’t know what to do next. Jonas Dassler and Aysima Ergün oscillate between absurd situational comedy and much-needed criticisms of the system. They perform to cope with the world, they perform to escape the world.
