Stefan Czura, born in Wangen in the Allgäu. During his degree programme in French and theatre and media studies, he already garnered initial practical experience as an assistant director at the Gostner Hoftheater, Stadttheater Fürth and Theater Magdeburg. After that he switched to the music theatre section of the Theater Hof (2018/2020) and Theater Magdeburg (2020/2021).
He has worked as an assistant for many directors including Nicole Claudia Weber, Christian von Götz, Jan Koslowski and Karen Stone.
His first productions were postponed due to the current Covid-19 pandemic.
Stefan won the audience prize in 2020 in the semi-final of the Ring Award for his concept for Don Giovanni, the competition’s selected opera.
At the end of the 2020/21 season, Stefan began working as an assistant director at the Maxim Gorki Theatre, where he worked as an assistant to Ersan Mondtag on It’s going to get worse and Leonie Böhm on Noorrraaaaaaaaa. He also plays the harp as a stage musician in the latter production.
