Reporter ohne Grenzen

Pressefreiheit in Afghanistan

On International Press Freedom Day, Reporter ohne Grenzen discuss the situation of press freedom in Afghanistan. In 2018 Afghanistan was the world's most dangerous country for journalists*, with at least 15 media workers killed for their work. The Australian photographer Andrew Quilty has been living in Kabul for years, where he documents the fragile everyday life. Afghan journalist Farida Nekzad heads the Center for the Protection of Women Journalists in Kabul and trains young women in the country as reporters. The event will be moderated by Gemma Pörzgen, board member of Reporter ohne Grenzen. At the same time, Reporter ohne Grenzen presents the current illustrated book FOTOS FÜR DIE PRESSEFREIHEIT 2019. It contains selected works by Andrew Quilty and more than twenty other photographers who made their pictures available free of charge for the volume.
