Schneider later studied acting at the Berlin University of the Arts and completed his master's degree in »Theater and performance« at the Zurich University of the Arts in 2023, where he also directed his first play, Faust3000.
He has had several guest engagements on stage, including at the Berlin Volksbühne in I Love You,But I've Chosen Entdramatisierungby René Pollesch, and at the Berliner Ensemble, where he appeared alongside Martin Wuttke in Simon Stone's Eine Griechische Trilogie.
His film career began early: after his film debut in the drama Guter Junge, Schneider took on his first leading role in Matti Geschonneck's tragicomedy Boxhagener Platz in 2009.He gained international attention in 2013 with the father-son drama Exit Marrakech (director: Oscar winner Caroline Link), for which he was awarded the New Faces Award for Best German Young Actor in 2014.

In 2024, Schneider starred in the multi-award-winning German-French film More Than Strangers by Sylvie Michel and in Haltlos by Kida Khodr Ramadan. Most recently, he appeared in the box office hit Wunderschöner by Karoline Herfurth. Samuel Schneider lives and works in Berlin.At the Maxim Gorki Theater, he will appear in Murat Dikenci's production of DIE LEGENDE VON PAUL UND PAULA during the 2025/26 season.
