Murat Dikenci, born in Hanover, studied Applied Cultural Studies in Lüneburg. Since 2007, he has been working as an author, director, dramaturg, curator, and actor on national and international projects.
His productions – including Sesperado – Revolution of Color (Ballhaus Naunynstraße, 2016), YAHYA HASSAN (Schauspiel Hannover, 2022), and Die Gerächten (Schauspiel Dortmund, 2023) – combine literary material with a politically poetic aesthetic. With his self-written play Die Gerächten, he was invited to the 2024 Radikal jung Festival.
From 2021 to 2023, Murat Dikenci worked as the Artistic Director and Curator of the »Universen« program and as Artistic Mediator at Schauspiel Hannover, where he established a »solidary stage for the city’s diverse society«.
Since the 2023/24 season, he has been the Artistic Director of Studio Я at Maxim Gorki Theater, where he accompanies directors dramaturgically and curates projects dedicated to a radical rejuvenation of the theater audience. Most recently, he directed productions at Maxim Gorki Theater including Fatma Aydemir’s debut novel ELLBOGEN (2024), Etel Adnan’s To Be In A Time of War (2025), and Die Legende von Paul und Paula (2025).
