Maviş Güneşer was born in Varto in 1975. She began her music career in 1994 in Istanbul with the group Agıré Jiyan. Her first solo album, Keje, released in 1998, consists of Zazaki works with lyrics and music written by herself.
The artist collaborated with Metin and Kemal Kahraman on the albums Meyman (2002), Çeveré Hazaru (2006), which focuses on Dersim Alevi literature, and Oğul (2012). Maviş Güneşer also worked with the all-female group Lilith. In 2004, the group released a repertoire of songs by women in German, French, Turkish, Kurdish, Yiddish, and Zazaki.
Maviş Güneşer composed music for Binevsa Berivan's films La Mélodie du Petit Château (2005), Ciao Bella Bruxelles (2014), and Gardiens (2017), as well as for director Tülin Dağ's documentary Bir Adım Ötesi (2011), which focuses on women prisoners who spent 10 years in Bayrampaşa.
She released her solo album Ax de Vaji in March 2019. This album is a documentary work that reads the last 100 years of Dersim's political history through laments. Since 2021, Güneşer has been releasing singles from her solo album Dılgran. In addition to her collective work with the Zaza Women Music Project, she is continuing her work on her fourth solo album, which consists of Zaza love songs.
