Katerina Poladjan is a writer and lives in Berlin. She studied art and philosophy at Leuphana University. Her prose debut In einer Nacht, woanders was followed by Vielleicht Marseille and together with Henning Fritsch she wrote the literary travelogue Hinter Sibirien. The novel Hier sind Löwen was nominated for the German Book Prize and was awarded the Nelly Sachs Prize and the Trophée Littéraire des Nouvelles d'Arménie. With Zukunftsmusik, Katerina Poladjan was shortlisted for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize 2022, the Wilhelm Raabe Literature Prize and the Prix Grand Continent. The novel was awarded the Rheingau Literature Prize and the Chamisso Prize of the City of Dresden. Katerina Poladjan was the 2023/24 Villa Massimo Rome Prize winner. In 2025, she was honoured with the Grand Prize of the German Literature Fund, and her latest novel, Goldstrand, was published in the same year.
Hier sind Löwen (Here Are Lions) was staged as a dramatic reading with Sesede Terziyan in Studio Я during the prologue of the 7th Berliner Herbstsalon 100 + 10 – Armenian Allegories by Milena Aboyan. On 24/January 2026, Nurkan Erpulat will stage the world premiere of her novel Zukunftsmusik (Pie in the Sky) as the last ensemble premiere under Shermin Langhoff.
