Gari Vanisian

Gari Vanisian, born in 1987 in the Russian USSR, is an author, filmmaker, film curator and translator. He studied law and art history at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main and in Nanterre, worked as a film programmer at the Arsenal cinema in Berlin and moderates at the International Forum of Young Cinema, among others. In 2013, he co-founded the Filmkollektiv Frankfurt e.V., with which he has since organized film programs and for which he has edited publications on the Nigerian film pioneer Ola Balogun and the Kino & Lyrik series (together with Ronya Othmann and Johanna Meyer). Most recently, he curated the film series Wir sind unsere Erinnerung – Der Genozid als Vergangenheit und Gegenwart im transnationalen armenischen Kino – 1915-2023 (SİNEMA TRANSTOPIA, Berlin, 2023) and Heimat in der Fremde - transnationales armenisches Kino (DFF, Frankfurt am Main, 2024).
