Daniel Lommatzsch was born in Hamburg in 1977. He began his studies at the Ernst Busch Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin in 1998. After engagements at Zurich's Schauspielhaus (2002-2005), Hanover's state theatre (2005-2008) and Hamburg's Thalia Theatre (2009-2015), he began to work as a freelance actor. He has collaborated with Stefan Pucher, Jette Steckel, Jan Bosse, Wilfried Minks, Nuran David Calis, Nicolas Stemann and Antu Numero Nunes.
He is appearing for the second time at the Maxim Gorki Theatre in the play Verräter – Die letzten Tage (Traitor - The last days) by Falk Richter in 2017.
