Bojana Pejić

Bojana Pejić (1948 in Belgrade) is a Berlin-based art historian and curator. She started to write on contemporary art in 1971, with a primary focus on Eastern European artists since 1991. She was chief curator of the exhibition After the Wall – Art and Culture in post-Communist Europe (Stockholm,1999; Budapest, 2000; Berlin, 2000/2001), Artist-Citizen, 49. October Salon (Belgrade, 2008), and Gender Check (Vienna, 2009/2010; Warsaw, 2010). She co-curated the international exhibition Good Girls. Memory, Desire, Power (Bucharest, 2013) and HERO MOTHER – Contemporary Art by Post-Communist Women Rethinking Heroism (Berlin, 2016).

She taught at multiple institutions such as the Department of Art History at the Humboldt University in Berlin, Carl von Ossietzky Universität in Oldenburg and at the Department of Gender Studies at Central European University in Budapest. She was a guest lecturer at the Bauhaus University in Weimar in the MFA programme Public Art and New Strategies (2011-2021). In 2022, she has received the Igor Zabel Award for Art and Culture.
