Club de Baile – We Take It

ABOLITION OF WORK! UNIVERSAL BASIC INCOME! EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL WORKERS!

Traditionally, Studio Я celebrates the night before the International Feminist Fight Day and connects with others for the demonstration on 8/March. This year, Club de Baile takes over the space, paying tribute to the visible and invisible labor of all women, cis and trans. Migrant women have historically been pushed into care work and minimum-wage jobs without rights; global North–South power relations persist and continue to shape communities in Berlin to this day.

Club de Baile is a live arts platform that pays tribute to popular dance and music as practices that connect cultures and communities across Abya Yala and beyond. The platform creates spaces for research and exchange around sound, dance and performative practices centered on Latin American culture. Club de Baile is a queer space focused on Berlin’s local community.

On 7/March, Club de Baile invites you to think collectively in a night of dancing, music and performance led by La Papi Patacón, with contributions by Lionza, Lorena Brown, Berenice Álvarez, kimbwazo, Chiqui Love, and Gadutra. Aditionally, the Sensación y Sentimiento Mercado will be open from 7:00 - 11:00 pm at Studio Foyer, featuring a small selection of graphic and textile artists selling their work. You can also bring a T-shirt to be screen-printed for free!

This edition of Club de Baile is a collaboration between Inmensidades & Camila Malenchini, together with all participating artists.

The event is centered on FLINTA* and queer communities, while all allies are welcome.
