Klaus Figge

Klaus Figge is Germany's most experienced and well-known stage combat choreographer. Born in Essen, he completed his studies at the German Sport University Cologne (master's equivalent in 1968) and at the University of Cologne (state examinations in history in 1970). He taught at the Folkwang University of the Arts from 1971 to 2015. Klaus Figge has already choreographed the fight scenes for many Lears: first for Dieter Dorn’s production at the Münchner Kammerspiele in 1992, and most recently for Peter Stein’s staging at the Wiener Burgtheater with Klaus Maria Brandauer as King Lear in 2013. QUEEN LEAR is his ninth collaboration with director Christian Weise.
