In Yoko Tawada’s texts, written in Japanese and German, dreams melt together with myths and reality. In her new novel Etüden im Schneethree polar bears – grandmother, mother and son – tell their story of migration passing the former Soviet Union, GDR and the reunified Germany. Deniz Utlu will talk with the Berlin-based author about this philosophical and contemporary animal tale that can also be seen as an enjoyable parody of migrant literature.

After the reading, there will be a concert by Pianist Aki Takase.
