Muskila x Simona Abdallah

Newroz!

The Gorki Theater traditionally celebrates Newroz every year — the celebration of freedom and resistance!

For their first Berlin concert, Muskila and Simona Abdallah present a live performance rooted in the raw energy of Middle Eastern percussion and alt-electronic music. Bringing together Kurdish and Palestinian heritage, their live show transforms diaspora rhythms into heavy, club-focused soundscapes. Muskila’s production draws from the pulse of Kurdish drums, rave aesthetics and club music, while Simona’s darbuka and hand percussion channel Palestinian traditions with fierce, virtuosic precision. The duo create a sound built on resistance, celebration, and cross-cultural storytelling, honoring their roots while pushing them into futuristic club contexts. On stage, movement, visuals, and a ritualistic intensity fold together, creating an immersive environment that extends beyond the frame of a conventional concert.

The evening is accompanied by Orientalisman, a Kurdish DJ from Hannover. In her sets, she shares SWANA sounds mixed with baile funk and edits or simply whatever is inspiring her right now.
