Esther Dischereit’s collection of essays Mama, darf ich das Deutschlandlied singen (Mum, may I sing the German national anthem) is about German-Jewish experiences, the 90s between East and West, and the current extent of structural racism in state institutions. 
Deniz Utlu talks to Esther Dischereit about her essays and perspectives on November 9th, the day on which 82 years ago the November Pogroms occurred and 31 years ago the Berlin Wall fell.
