New & Old Jewish Folk
The Berlin-based female trio »Kol Ishe« (women's voices) present the best of Yiddish ballads. The voice of the woman, banned in ancient Judaism for its »seductive force«, is now set free to reach its utmost potential. So it's not surprising that three prominent voices in the international Klezmer music scene – united under the name of the former ban – are attempting this provocation just as seductively as possible.
The Hamburg duo Stella's Morgenstern present Jewish folk music, new & old. In Hebrew, Yiddish, English and German, the duo performs songs that shift between traditional and modern music, written especially for them by composers including Merose, among others.
