Die Kümmeltürkin geht

Melek Tez came to Berlin as a young migrant worker in 1970. At first, she confronted the hostility and racism of everyday life in Germany with a witty defiance, but after 15 years she finally decided to return to Turkey. Jeanine Meerapfel combines documentary footage and interviews with re-enacted scenes to create a powerful homage to the power of self-assertion over all obstacles.
