Walter Hess, born in Luzern in 1939, had his first engagement at the Stadttheater Konstanz from 1963 to 1968. Thereafter he took on freelance projects and appeared in guest performances at the Theater Basel, the Luzerner Theater as well as the Schauspielhaus Zürich, etc. Between 1972 and 1980 he worked as actor and director at the Theater an der Winkelwiese in Zurich, where he continued as freelancer until 1987 when he took up an acting engagement at the Schauspiel Bonn. In 1997 he moved to the Staatstheater Hannover and was engaged at the Schauspielhaus Zürich from 2000 to 2002.
Since 2002 Walter Hess has been a member of the Münchner Kammerspiele ensemble, where he appeared in “Der Prozess” (directed by Andreas Kriegenburg, 2008), “Fegefeuer in Ingolstadt” (directed by Susanne Kennedy, 2013) and “Liliom” (directed by Stephan Kimmig, 2014) and other plays. Presently he performs in the production “Warum läuft Herr R. Amok?” (directed by Susanne Kennedy, 2014), which has been invited to the Berliner Theatertreffen 2015, as well as in “Maria Stuart” (directed by Andreas Kriegenburg, 2015).
