Sisi Bo’wale is a multidisciplinary artist, performer and actor. He completed his acting studies at the University of Art in Graz in 2018 and toured Austria, Germany, Italy and Switzerland with the play schwarzweißlila. He then joined the ensemble at the Hessisches Landestheater Marburg. There he made his debut short film Cassiopeia I, which premiered at the Hessische Theatertage in 2021. It was shown at the ART EXPO in Dubai in 2022 and presented as part of an installation at Atelier Schaumbad Graz in 2024 – as part of the group exhibition Heile Welt.
In his artistic practice, Sisi Bo'wale explores nostalgia for Heimatfilms, family history(ies), country life vs. city life, yodelling and Afrobeat, and dream and intermediate worlds as spaces in which identity, psyche and social structures are continuously renegotiated. He has been working as a freelancer since 2022, including at the Tiroler Landestheater and the Theater Dortmund with the theatre maker duo Ta-Nia. He was also the narrator for the SWR radio play Doppeltreppe zum Wald by Lamin Leroy Gibba and a jury member at the YOUKI Film Festival in Wels in 2024. In 2025, he created his first full-length solo performance, Moonflavoured Mountains, at the Ballhaus Naunynstraße, where he accompanies the Akademie der Autodidakten in Weaving Dreams.
