Omid Rezaee began his journalistic work at two banned school and student newspapers in Iran. When he was sentenced to two years in prison, he fled to Iraq. He moved to Germany in 2015 and worked freelance for German and Persian-language media. He studied mechanical engineering (Rasht, Iran), digital journalism (Hamburg Media School) and sociology and political science (University of Hagen). He has been a trainee at Zeit Online since 2025. His main topics are Iran, the Middle East, Azerbaijan, migration and literature.
