Oliwia Hälterlein, born in Bydgoszcz, works as a freelance writer, host, dramaturg, and conceptualizer of artistic and sociocultural projects. She studied Slavic Studies, Comparative Literature, Cultural Studies, Theater Studies, and Film Studies in Salzburg, Kraków, and Berlin, and later pursued a degree in Creative Writing at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig. Her debut novel Wir Töchter was published by C.H. Beck in February 2026 and received the Bayern 2 Wortspiele Prize. In 2023, she initiated the participatory and performative writing and reading project CÓRKOWOŚĆ, which gave rise to the live radio play Die Stimmen der Töchter. She has worked as an assistant director and dramaturg at the Schauspielhaus Salzburg, the Theater Freiburg, and in collaboration with Independent Little Lies Luxembourg. Hälterlein is a member of PEN Berlin and part of the ensemble-netzwerk. She was an artist-in-residence at Chateau Bourglinster in Luxembourg and at the E-Werk, Galerie für Gegenwartskunst, in Freiburg; from January to May 2026, she will be an artist-in-residence in Paris at Atelier Mondial; and in September 2026, she will be a Homines Urbani fellow at Villa Decius in Krakow. She is also a co-founder of the Freiburg action week Aufgeklärt?! Wir nehmen’s selbst in die Hand! and hosts the Freiburg reading series CLITERATUR.
