Nune Hovhannisyan was born in 1963 in Yerevan. She began her professional career in cinema during the Soviet era, working as an assistant director and production manager. She made her directorial debut in 1989 with the short film Paradise, followed by three further short films: Matagh (1991), The Day (1992), and Very Short Film (2008). Hovhannisyan collaborated extensively with renowned filmmaker Don Askarian, producing several of his films including On the Old Roman Road (2001).
From 2010 to 2022, she lived and worked in Berlin before returning to Armenia. In 2022, she worked as the Armenian producer for Landshaft by Daniel Kötter. Since 2022, she has been a programmer for the International Full-Length Competition of the Golden Apricot International Film Festival in Yerevan, were in 2023 she presented her solo photo exhibition Berlin: Through the Eyes of a Cleaning Lady.
Since November 2022, she has been working at the Cinema Foundation of Armenia as a Film Editor and Archive Coordinator within the Film Heritage Department.
