Nino Haratischwili

Nino Haratischwili, born in Tbilisi in 1983, is one of the most important voices in contemporary German-language literature. The multi-award-winning author, theater director, and playwright has received the Literature Prize of the Cultural Circle of German Business, the Anna Seghers Prize, and the Bertolt Brecht Prize, among others. Her internationally acclaimed epic Das achte Leben (Für Brilka) (The Eighth Life (For Brilka), FVA 2014) became a worldwide bestseller, and a series adaptation is in the works. Her other works include Mein sanfter Zwilling (My Gentle Twin, 2011), Die Katze und der General (The Cat and the General, 2018), Das mangelnde Licht (The Lack of Light, 2022), Löwenherzen (Lion Hearts, 2024), and the essay and speech collection Europa, wach auf! (Europe, Wake Up!, 2025).
