Mikayel Vatinyan studied directing and acting at the University of Drama in Yerevan. He has worked in many theatres having the lead roles there. In 2000, he co-founded the theatre IO directing the trilogy entitled IO, IOzart and Suitcase upon his own dramaturgy. These performances participated in many international theatre festivals and received various prizes. Mikayel Vatinyan has roles and also leading parts in short & feature films. Joan and the Voices, his first feature film, had its World Premiere in the Official Competition of Busan International Film Festival, and the European Premiere at Goteborg International Film Festival, and was selected for many other festival afterwards.
