Writer and director Marlene Streeruwitz is one of Austria’s most distinguished contemporary authors speaking out on current political and social issues. She takes a strong stand on feminist issues and has been fighting against right wing populism since the rise of the FPÖ.

She obtained a university degree in Slavonic studies and art history. In 1996, she published her first novel, Verführungen. 3. Folge. Frauenjahre, for which she received the Mara Cassens prize, among others.
