Maria Simon

Maria Simon was born in Leipzig in 1976 and completed her acting studies at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin in 1999. Her breakthrough came with the film Zornige Küsse (2000), for which she received the award for best actress at the Moscow Film Festival. Further awards followed, including the Max Ophüls Prize in 2002 and the Golden Camera in 2016 for her performance in the German television film Silvia S. Blinde Wut. She is also known from films such as Good Bye, Lenin! and Lichter. From October 2024, Maria Simon will also be appearing at the Gorki in Linkerhand, based on the novel Franziska Linkerhand by Brigitte Reimann and directed by Sebastian Baumgarten.
