Juri Sternburg

Juri Sternburg, born in Berlin-Kreuzberg in 1983, began as a graffiti and street artist and worked as an assistant at the Deutsches Theater Almaty in Kazakhstan where he created his own graffiti set design in 2003. In addition to his jobs in various Berlin bars and clubs, he created his first one-act commission, Sechs Quadratmeter Chrom, for the Trockenschwimmer festival in Berlin. At the same time, he began to write columns and articles in the culture pages of the taz Berlin. Türsteher (Bouncer), his first radio play, was broadcast by SWR in March 2010.

DER PENNER IST JETZT SCHON WIEDER WOANDERS received a scholarship prize at the 2010 Heidelberger Stückemarkt festival and was honoured with an award for new drama at the Stückemarkt at the 2011 Theatertreffen festival. Its world premiere was celebrated at the Maxim Gorki Theatre in January 2012.
