João d’Orey

João d'Orey is a German-Portuguese actor, author and dancer. He completed his acting studies at the ADK Baden-Württemberg in 2020 and has been working freelance in Berlin ever since. He has performed at the Stadttheater Ingolstadt and the Landesbühne Baden-Württemberg, among others. He made his film debut in 2020 in EGOLANE, which was nominated for the prestigious Walters Prize. Further film appearances followed in BRÜT, Oh Hell 2, Tender Hearts, Para - Wir sind King, among others. João was most recently seen in Grelle Tage at Schauspielhaus Bochum and worked as a dancer with Matt Lambert and Lucky Love, among others. T-Boy on Grindr is his first work as an author and solo performer, most recently seen at Theater unterm Dach and the Goethe Institute Bangkok – in June 2025 in an extended version at the Maxim Gorki Theater. João d'Orey's artistic work uses auto-fictional forms of narration to make complex, differentiated representations of queer and trans lives visible.
