Holger Kuhla worked as a theatre technician and assistant director at the Stadttheater Cottbus, then as a freelance director and dramaturg. Studied theatre studies, dramaturgy and cultural communication at the Humboldt University Berlin, became dramaturg for plays at the state theatre in Cottbus and academic-artistic collaborator / lecturer at the Seminar for Theatre Studies / Cultural Communication, as well as at the Seminar for Media Studies at the Humboldt. Worked as a freelance dramaturg / director / author at various theaters and for the radio (DLF; rbb; MDR). Taught theatre history, applied dramaturgy and acting at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts Berlin and the University of Music and Theatre »Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy« Leipzig. He was senior dramaturg for drama and puppet theatre at the state theatre in Dessau, and director of the drama studio at the university in Leipzig. As a staff and freelance dramaturg at the Maxim Gorki Theatre Berlin, he has worked on productions such as Mephistoland, Der Auftrag and Je suis Jeanne D'Arc, as well as the Heiner Müller Spezial.
