Eva Mattes has been on stage and in front of the camera since the age of 12 and is still fascinated by her profession. Since 1966, she has appeared in around 200 feature films, television films and theater productions in leading and supporting roles and has been honored with numerous prizes and awards. Her directors include R. W. Fassbinder, Werner Herzog, Michael Verhoeven and Peter Zadek. From 2002 to 2016, she played the crime scene inspector Klara Blum in Constance on Lake Constance. She has recorded around one hundred audio books, including the complete works of Jane Austen, and travels the country with her song recitals, which tell of emigration and the loss of home.
