Christian Koegel

Christian Kögel is a native of lovely southern Bavaria. He began to study classical guitar at the age of ten.
Kögel moved to Berlin in 1990 and founded his own trio , that won several jazz-competitions in Germany. He continued studying classical guitar at the Hochschule der Künste, Berlin (1990-1994) and begun studying at the jazzdepartment of the Hochschule der Künste, Berlin with  David Friedman, Jerry Granelli, a.o. (1991-1996), where he received a bachelor for the arts and education in 1996.
From 1998 – 2000 Kögel studied oud and traditional arabic music with the syrian master Farhan Sabbagh.
Christian Kögel is member of several bands in Germany  (flexkögel, Paul-Brodys Sadawi, Edward Macleans Adoqué, Wood & Steel Trio, Lauer Large,
Marc Muellbauers Kaleidoscope,  Nasser Kilada & Ranin, Jazzanova live a.o.) as well as international bands like  Jerry Granelli V-16,  DJ Stinkin‘ Rich, Simon Fisk Trio and the Jerry Granelli Septet, with whom he performed at several  Jazz Festivals.
Christian Kögel teaches jazz-guitar in Berlin and is member of the teaching staff of several international Jazz-Workshops like the Creative Music Workshop  in Halifax and Giant Steps in Berlin.
