Asya Yaghmurian

Asya Yaghmurian is a curator based in Berlin. She co-founded and curated Armenia’s first Design Pavilion in 2016, worked on the Dilijan Arts Observatory 2016, and Portable Homelands. From Field to Factory for the 2018 exhibition Hello World. Revising a Collection at Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart. Yaghmurian co-curated the 33rd edition of the Ljubljana Biennial of Graphic Arts, and the Pickle Bar with Slavs & Tatars and KW Institute for Contemporary Art. She was the guest curator of homemuseum.net, an online platform reimagining collections, for LagosPhoto20. Since 2020, Yaghmurian works with the African Artists’ Foundation in Lagos, Nigeria. Yaghmurian co-curated the 2022 and ‘24 editions of the Biennale for Sonic and Visual Media, dusseldorfphoto+. Her recent project, a symposium On Reality (K21, Düsseldorf, 2024) investigated how visual media construct the perceptions of reality. Yaghmurian has been teaching at several institutions, including Berlin University of the Arts (UdK).
