Paula Wellmann

Paula Wellmann was born in 1986. She studied set design at the Berlin University of the Arts from 2010 to 2013, and at the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts from 2006 bis 2008. From 2008 to 2010 she was a production design assistant at the Berliner Ensemble, where she worked with directors such as Claus Peymann, Robert Wilson and Achim Freyer. In 2015 she began collaborating with Ersan Mondtag and the »KAPITÆL ZWEI KOLEKTIF«. As part of the collective she developed the interdisciplinary performance PARTY #4 – NSU at Mixed Munich Arts. In addition, she worked for Ersan Mondtag on the set and costume design for Tyrannis at the Staatstheater Kassel (invited to the Berliner Theatertreffen) and on the set design for Schnee at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg. She followed those productions with the set design for Schere Faust Papier, also at the Thalia Theater, and a set and costume design collaboration for Die Vernichtung at the Konzert Theater Bern (invited to the 2017 Theatertreffen). She's created other designs for productions directed by Lucia Bihler, Marco Storman, Lilja Rupprecht and Christian Weise, among others. Wellmann has previously collaborated with Weise on Hoffmanns Erzählungen, at the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar, as well as Endstation Sehnsucht, at the Nationaltheater Mannheim.
