Mely Kiyak

Mely Kiyak is a political columnist and the author of several books. She writes the weekly column Kiyaks Deutschstunde for Zeit Online and KIYAKS THEATER KOLUMNE for the Gorki. Coproduced with the Badisches Staatstheater, her first work for the stage, AUFSTAND (Monolog eines wütenden Künstlers), is in the repertory at the Maxim Gorki Theatre. In 2015 she was honoured together with her colleagues as »Journalistin des Jahres« for the Hate Poetry show. Since 2016 Mely Kiyak has produced a monthly political matinee show called »Weltausstellung« at the Schauspiel Hannover, where she discusses the topics of our present with a variety of guests such as Heribert Prantl, Michel Friedmann and Philipp Ruch. In Hamburg she curates and hosts a discussion series for the Körber Foundation called »Wo ist Deine Kunst zu Hause«. Recent guests include the writer Maxim Biller, performer Serdar Somuncu, star violinist Daniel Hope and musician Samy Deluxe. Mely Kiyak can be seen on numerous stages where she reads, discusses, holds lectures and produces small-scale evenings of theatre.
