Imran Ayata
Imran Ayata, born in Ulm in 1969, is an author and campaigner. Following his collection of short stories Hürriyet Love Express (2005), he published the novel Mein Name ist Revolution (2011), as well as Ruhm und Ruin (2015), which is based on the theatre production Liga der Verdammten, co-directed by Ayata and Neco Çelik at Ballhaus Naunynstraße. As a writer and publicist, he regularly comments on political issues in the media. Ayata is a co-founder of Kanak Attak, an anti-racist movement founded in the late 1990s.
Together with Bülent Kullukcu, he released the CDs Songs of Gastarbeiter Vol. 1 and Songs of Gastarbeiter Vol. 2(Trikont). He is a co-owner of the agency Ballhaus West.
Since September 2026, Imran Ayata has been Curator at Large at the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin and is a founding member of PEN Berlin.
