With Membrana Study, Nicole L’Huillier offers a first glimpse into her artistic research into sound, vibration, and the ways in which spaces listen.

Directly beside the entrance of the Gorki, five small-scale, translucent membranes receive visitors, inviting them to listen and to feel. The underlying noise of the street, passing voices, and the movements of the city meet the membranes and are translated into sonic vibrations. They mingle with the echoes and memories held within the building.

 Like a second skin, Membrana Study opens the theatre to its surroundings.  

Membrana Study is activated in a performance by Gorki ensemble member Mickey Mahar and the artist herself at 8:30 pm.
