Sandra Hüller

Sandra Hüller, born in 1978 in Suhl, trained at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin. She began her theatre career at Theaterhaus Jena and later moved to Schauspiel Leipzig. She subsequently performed at renowned stages such as Theater Basel, the Münchner Kammerspiele, and Schauspielhaus Bochum. She has maintained long-standing collaborations with directors including Johan Simons, Barbara Frey, René Pollesch, Schorsch Kamerun, Stephan Kimmig, and Tom Schneider.

In 2024, the production I Want Absolute Beauty, featuring music by PJ Harvey, opened the Ruhrtriennale. For her theatre work, she has received numerous awards, including the Gertrud Eysoldt Ring for her role in Hamlet and the Berlin Theatre Prize in 2020. Since 2013, the magazine Theater heute has named her Actress of the Year four times. In 2020 she released her album Be your own Prince.

In 2016, together with Tom Schneider, Moritz Bossmann, and Tobias Staab, she founded the theatre collective FARN, which has so far realised the productions Bilder deiner großen Liebe by Wolfgang Herrndorf at Theater Neumarkt Zürich, Die Hydra based on texts by Heiner Müller at Schauspielhaus Bochum, The Shape of Trouble to Come in co-production with Schauspiel Leipzig and Schauspielhaus Bochum, Penthesilea:s at Theater Halle, as well as the audio guide Wie Gras at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin.

She became internationally known through her award-winning film roles, most recently in The Zone of Interest and Anatomy of a Fall in 2023. For the latter film, she received an Oscar® nomination.
