Ursula Werner

Ursula Werner, born in Eberswalde in 1943 and raised in Berlin, is a German theatre and film actress. She studied at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts. Werner’s first part in a film was in the student film Die Sorgenkinder in 1961. In 2009, she received the German Film Award for »Best Actress in a Leading Role« for Wolke 9. She is a central figure of (East-)German Film and Theatre. Werner was a permanent ensemble member of the Maxim Gorki Theatre from 1974 to 2009. In 1979, Werner played Mascha in Thomas Langhoff's legendary production of Three Sisters. Currently she is on stage at the Münchner Kammerspiele and in Muttersprache Mameloschn, which premieres in December 2023 at the Maxim Gorki Theater.
