Tarun Kade

Tarun Kade, born in 1984, studied theatre studies, English and philosophy in Bristol and Munich. From 2009 to 2011 he worked as a dramaturg at Thalia Theater Hamburg with Joachim Lux as artistic director, from 2012 to 2015 he was at Theater Bremen with Michael Börgerding and Benjamin von Blomberg. From 2015 bis 2020 Tarun Kade served as dramaturg at the Münchner Kammerspiele while Matthias Lilienthal was artistic director; he led the dramaturgy department in the final two seasons of his tenure. In both of those years, the Kammerspiele was chosen theatre of the year in the critics’ poll by Theater heute. Tarun Kade co-founded a ways-of-working platform called modesofoperation.com, which, in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut, portrays a new generation of theatre makers’ ways of working. For the 2022 festival, Tarun Kade served as programme dramaturg at the Wiener Festwochen under the artistic direction of Christophe Slagmuylder. Since then, he has worked as a freelance dramaturg and programme curator at institutions such as the Maxim Gorki Theatre and the Wiener Festwochen, as well as in the independent performing arts. Furthermore, he continues to teach and mentor at universities and academies, as well as serving on juries. He regularly collaborates with the directors Toshiki Okada, Leonie Böhm, Felix Rothenhäusler and Alexander Giesche.
