Dominic Huber

Dominic Huber was born in Switzerland in 1972. As a set designer and director he works on the expansion of experiences of reality in theatrical contexts. After completing his studies in architecture at ETH Zurich, he created exhibition projects – for the Schweizer Expo.02 and the Humboldt Forum, among others – in addition to numerous sets in Zurich, Basel, Berlin, Aachen, Frankfurt, Munich, Bochum, Hamburg, Bremen, Brussels and Lausanne. He collaborates regularly with Argentinian director Lola Arias (e.g. Futureland at the Gorki) and with Sebastian Nübling (in Hamburg, Bochum, Zurich and at the Wiener Festwochen). In collaboration with sound designer Knut Jensen and actress Lara Körte, he's created his own theatre installations including Hotel Savoy in New York and at HAU Berlin, Joyland at the Theater Neumarkt in Zurich as well as Forever Yours based on Dostoevsky's The Double. Huber has worked with Stefan Kaegi and Rimini Protokoll since 2008: this collaboration has resulted in projects such as the award-winning Situation Rooms. He teaches regularly at the Zurich University of the Arts. In 2015 he served on the international jury for the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space. He created the installation work Nachlass with Stefan Kaegi at the Théâtre de Vidy-Lausanne in 2016, which has since toured internationally. At the Gorki he developed the sets for Atlas des Kommunismus and Futureland, both directed by Lola Arias.
