Prof. Armin Nassehi

The sociologist Armin Nassehi researches the Gesellschaft der Gegenwarten (Society of Presents) and examines how decisions are generated in complex situations, and how different social perspectives clash with each other in economics, politics, academia, media and culture. His latest book is Muster. Theorie der digitalen Gesellschaft“ (Patterns. Theory of the Digital Society, 2019). In the book, Nassehi claims that complex modern societies had already been digitally organized before the advent of digital technologies. Armin Nassehi grew up in Tübingen, Munich, Landshut, Teheran and Gelsenkirchen. He studied educational sciences, philosophy and sociology, and has been a professor of sociology at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich since 1998.
