Abak Safaei-Rad was born in Cologne in 1974. In 1999 she graduated from the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media. She then became an ensemble member at the state theatre in Kassel and then at the city theatre in Frankfurt. After those engagements, she spent a few years as a freelance performer with appearances at venues like Berlin's Ballhaus Ost, Volksbühne, Hebbel am Ufer and Maxim Gorki Theatre. In 2013 she joined the ensemble at Stuttgart's state theatre. The directors she has collaborated with include Armin Petras, Wanda Golonka, Peter Kastenmüller, Simone Blattner, Hans-Werner Krösinger, Martin Laberenz, Sebastian Hartmann and René Pollesch. She has also worked as a voice actor in numerous radio plays and radio productions since she was 12 years old. At the Gorki she appears in Sebastian Nübling's production of Nach uns das All – das innere Team kennt keine Pause (After us, outer space - the inner team never eases up).
